FRINGE REVIEW: Dale Beaner and the Turtle Boy

If you like silly, outlandish and just plain fun comedy shows, Dale Beaner and the Turtle Boy is a must-see.  This quick paced two man show by Devon Hyland and Connor Thompson juxtaposes the father-son relations of washed-up child star Dale Beaner with the Turtle Boy, a child encased in a turtle shell for protection from worldly harm.  Both Dale and the Turtle Boy are entering their teen years and, to the chagrin of their fathers, trying to define their independence.  As the play progresses, the characters become more outlandish as the scenes fill with witty dialogue that leave one laughing uncontrollably.  Prepare to be entertained by a murderous pack of doves, contemplate the uses of Big Cat Facial Cream, and develop a healthy desire to devour cupcakes!

Four out of five stars.
