FRINGE REVIEW: An Informative Guide To Climbing The Corporate Ladder

In the spirit of Mike Judge's comedy Office Space, An Informative Guide to Climbing the Corporate Ladder focuses on the banalities of a corporate career path.  From the opening interview full of stock questions and uninformative answers, through to the awkward office romance gossip, this play satirizes the daily routine office worker's experience and tries to uncover what hinders our youthful dreams.  The play's portrayal of office life idiosyncrasies is both accurate and funny, but it is the well written script and Gavin William’s goofy expressions that carry the play.  Produced by Calgary’s Backyard Spaceship theater troupe and winner of the Alberta 2007 Best Play Award, this production boasts a strong script with a good balance between comedy and thoughtful reflections on life.

Three out of five stars.
