In February their debut EP Upon St. Lawrence reached number one on CJSR’s charts, thanks in part to their massive local following that eats up TB’s space-rock melodies like a chubby kid in a marshmallow factory. Their sound has been compared to Radiohead and Mogwai — credit for that goes to frontman Brad Amundson, who you may or may not remember from his days with now-defunct Edmonton punk export Choke. Also joining this week’s exercise is Thea vs. Loki and Ben Spencer’s Funeral.

This Toronto pair of electro-pop propagators want nothing more than for you to shake your hot rump all over the dance floor. This will require little effort on your part considering the hybrid nature of their beats. Nigerian-born MC Isis will whip you into motion over the funky rhythms courtesy of Grahm Zilla — a self-identified vinyl junkie with no morals when it comes to “Asian chicks with bangs” — mixing everything from electro-jazz to rock ’n’ roll. So if you find yourself hanging out on Jasper, stop by and shake that ass.

All these guys do is party. Their song “Bounce” featuring NORE told us so. The only thing they like doing more than partying is sitting around the kitchen table in wool sweaters and making up fancy words with no vowels
in them. Actually, we can’t confirm that. What we can confirm, though, is that this Toronto duo has a deep affection for moustaches and remixing huge cross-sections of the top 40 pop canon — Wolfmother, Usher, John Legend, and Kylie Minogue, just to name a few.
