CHEWABLE!
Vitamins For You
Brixx Bar & Grill • March 26
$10 | At the door
Our mothers have all lectured us not to take candy from strangers — or medication, for that matter. So let us to introduce you to Bryce Kushnier, the man behind this Toronto-based electropop pharmacy. He was born in Winnipeg, went to school in Montreal, he’s worked with Emm Gryner, Do Make Say Think, and The Nortec Collective, and his third full-length, he closed his eyes... so he could dance with you, is due out later this year. There! Now he’s not a stranger anymore, and you can attend the show with a clean conscience.

TANGY!
GZA
Starlite Room • March 27
$28 | Ticketmaster
Even though Ol’ Dirty Bastard is dead and Red, Meth, and RZA aren’t on this tour, Gary Grice, the mastermind behind the Wu-Tang Clan, still ain’t nothin’ to fuck with. Seriously: don’t fuck with this guy. He’s watched enough kung fu movies to be an honourary ninja — the man could kill you before you even know you’re in a fight, and then whip your ass at chess for good measure. But judging from Coffee and Cigarettes, don’t trust his home health remedies — we’re pretty sure you can’t cure a cough with oven cleaner.

BOOTYLICIOUS!
Beyoncé
Rexall Place • March 26
$25 | Ticketmaster
SEE editor Paul Matwychuk says he came thisclose to including Beyoncé’s video for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” on his list of the 10 best films of 2008, which tells you either something about the artistry of JaQuel Knight’s choreography (inspired by a 1969 Gwen Verdon TV appearance) and director Jake Nava’s black-and-white images ... or just that Paul’s a sucker for a sexy gal in a leotard. Ticket sales for this show are surprisingly sluggish — is Edmonton saving up for the Nickelback show on Wednesday instead?
