BLOOD!
Bassnectar
Empire Ballroom | Nov. 27
Quotes from recent entries in Bassnectar’s tour blog: “I played my heart out, then I slammed a fuckload of wine and rushed off to the hotel to knockout quick... How does a Tuesday night feel SO FORKING LOCO!?!?!?... I dove into the crowd and when I climbed back onstage I sliced my finger on broken glass and bled everywhere while I played an encore track... The crazier it got, the more amped-up I felt, and as I was losing my voice and my mind at the same time, why not go totally BUCKFUCKINGWILD!!!!” Let’s hope the man makes it to Edmonton in one piece.

BRIDGES!
Moneen
Pawn Shop | Nov. 28
When the online magazine Blare asked him to explain the title of Moneen’s latest album The World I Want to Leave Behind, vocalist/guitarist Kenny Bridges replied, “When you leave this world, how do we want to be remembered? What do you want to be remembered for? What will be your legacy?” So then ... shouldn’t the album be called The Legacy I Want to Leave Behind? Or How I Want to Be Remembered After I Leave the World? It’d probably be a little gauche to ask Bridges that before the show, though, wouldn’t it?

BEARDS!
ZZ Top
Jubilee Auditorium | Nov. 28
They may be last in our iTunes playlist, but they’ve been first in our hearts ever since that “Legs” video where they drove up to that cute nearsighted girl in the shoe store, showed her how to dress like a slut, and helped her get her revenge on all those jerks in the hamburger joint. (Did they cure her vision while they were at it? The video is unclear, but if the Eliminator also does Lasik surgery, we wouldn’t be surprised. That’s one cool car.) In any case, the boys will be at the Jube this Saturday, guitars a-twirlin’ and beards a-danglin’.
